That little imp...

...is turning out to be quite a handful!!

She is ALL OVER THE PLACE NOW!
My back is aching from bending down and carting her off 137 times a day.

Megan has found a new playground. Our bed.
Everytime my back is turned, she goes to our master room and crawls up our bed. (It's actually quite cute) But she likes to fiddle with the stuff on our bedside tables (ie. hand lotion, lip gloss, hair clips, aroma essence..), which are NOT her play toys. Once I found her in the middle of our bed and pretended to chase her. She got excited, started chuckling and crawled so fast towards the bolster and pillows and threw herself on them.. hahaha.

She is walking really well now.
A particularly touching moment today was when Zack came home from his course. She was walking about and when he squatted down and opened his arms to her, she walked to him, leaned in and gave him a hug! TWICE! One arm on his shoulder, the other on his arm with her head tucked beneath his chin :) *misty-eyed* - my cam was too late :(

Job as a mother... is very tiring yet so rewarding. I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world!!!

I found Megan in our room, holding the photoframe on the bedside table.. going: "dadee.." (she calls both of us dadee.. yeah i know).

on another note: That photo was taken 6yrs old and she recognises us! We still look the same!!

Taken this morning..
Amongst all the professions Daddy and Mummy are dreaming for Megan.. another one pops out: Perhaps a music conductor? *LOL*

"dar ub.."

A Starhub advertisement was on tv and at the end of it.. it went "hello starhub!"

Megan opened and closed her fists (she does it whenever i sing "twinkle twinkle little star" and that's her star hand gesture) and she muttered in that adorable language of hers.."dar.. ub" Her words are getting so distinct.

My gosh!!! She is picking things up so quickly!
Her brain is like a sponge! :)

She knows how to put the tip of her index fingers together when i sing, "like a diamond in the sky"! So young and she likes diamonds! Aiyoooooh....!

20 July: Megan turns ONE!

Happy Birthday Baby!!!!

Many people asked how are we going to celebrate Megan's 1st birthday.
It's her 1st birthday and a big celebration is rightfully in order.

However, we decided to not take the conventional route of holding a big party, inviting family, friends and colleagues.. some of which in all honesty don't really care hoot about her. Just attending for the parents.

We want a celebration MEGAN will enjoy. Something that is meaningful FOR HER (not us).

At 1 year old, Megan doesn't take well to unfamiliar people. Having a party with a big crowd, will only put pressure on her to perform. I sure don't want my baby to have a stressful bday.

So we have decided to have a series of small celebrations. With family and with close friends who really care and love Megan. On her actual day, Megan will spend it with her 2 most favourite people in the whole wide world - Daddy and Mummy!

We brought her to Sentosa - Underwater World. Zoo and Birdpark were considered but due to the unpredictable weather, we stick to Underwater World. A place for her to engage her senses, broaden her exposure. I don't care what people say about babies not remembering anything - holidays or otherwise. I say any and every experience counts. Babies have the most complex brain, learning and developing at great leaps and bounds. I want to provide Megan the best platform to learn and experience.

Thought it'll be nice to have some 'noise' for her cakecutting, we called Rachel Ah Yi if she is free to pop over after work. She was and excited to be invited so we picked her up on our way home.

For her 1st birthday, Mummy baked Megan her very own birthday cake!
No money in the world can buy a cake baked with love ;)

Sugar-free applesauce and banana cake with creamcheese/maple syrup frosting
It's for babies so not that palatable for adults.. haha.

1st: Sat - 17th, with Godpa Marky+Aunty Christina, Aunty Elynne, Godpa Fu, Aunty Des, Aunty Renee+Uncle Colin
2nd: Sun - 18th, with Grandpa and Grandma and Uncle Adrian
3rd: Tues - 20th (Birthday!), with Daddy and Mummy and Rachel Ah Yi and Andrew Yi Zhang.
4th: Sat - 24th, with Mama Nancy and Rachel Ah Yi.

Waiting for our beef noodles - takeaway for our dinner.

Beef noodles are sooooooo good! Rivals the street vendor 30baht beef noodles we had at Koh Samui - just the taste, NOT the price.

Perfect timing. On our way home, fed her lunch (oats/apple/cheese) which I cooked and packed along. Promptly fell asleep :)

Megan didn't fuss one bit so I didn't realised she fell asleep in her bumbo!


Now... lunch is definitely worth waiting for!
Organic mac (carbo), Omega 6 egg (protein), organic cheese (calcium).. power packed lunch ;)

Mummy may stinge on other stuff but she feed Megan the best food! - at least she tries to. So far it is paying off. Megan is healthy and strong.. no sickness for the 1st year! Praise the Lord! And of course, the prayers before meals/milk work wonders!

"Thank You Jesus for my milk/cereal/pasta. Keep me strong and healthy. In Jesus name we pray, Amen!"

I say it's the prayers.. :)

Was so busy to update so here is a belated one: Megan hit a new high!

of sleeping in that is.

Post-bday, which was yesterday. Our little darling slept til almost noon! That's a record high! She must be too tired from her bday celebrations. Too hyped up.. haha. Now that things are back to normal, i'm trying to reset her routine.

Megan is also starting to get clingy. What happened last night was really strange. After she finished her milk, Megan started to wail. It was loud and not a fuss. (Gums?) I had to carry her and she got better. Zack then carried her but she started to wail again. She wanted Mummy! When I stand next to them, she raised her arms towards me and wanted me to carry her. Zack of course weren't too pleased.. hehe. The minute I put her back in her cot, she started up again. It was those piercing shrill wail like someone is hitting her. Had to carry and soothe her. She fell asleep in my arms and when I put her back in her cot, she woke up. But settled back to sleep when i sat next to her and pat her.

Now this is a strange development. Megan has always been a very independent baby. This new show of clingy-ness is... hmm... interesting.
